Built from pioneers, Eaton, Colorado is proud of its heritage and also looks forward to the future of growth and modern innovation. The town played a major role in establishing agriculture in Colorado in the late 19th century and was the hub of irrigation for the area. Today, much of the region’s farming is still powered by those early irrigation systems and the industry is a primary employer in the town and the surrounding areas.
At just under two square miles, Eaton is a small piece of Colorado history. Many of the community’s resources, including lots of shopping, schools, and employment are located in Greeley, just seven miles south. The town is less than 60 miles north of Denver, which is easily accessible through highways and shuttles to Denver International Airport. Eaton provides all the resources of a large urban environment just a short drive away while still offering a slower pace and beautiful access to nature.
The town still features many of its original structures and showcases its heritage, but it also has plenty of new growth and modern technology. Eaton’s population is around 5,000 people and has grown steadily over the past few decades. The average home price in 2017 is $282,000, a more than 9% increase over the previous year. Home values are expected to increase nearly 5% in the coming year. Eaton’s home prices are higher than other towns in the area, showing the demand to live within its borders. Many new developments are under construction, and Eaton, as well as the rest of Weld County, is expected to see growth in the coming years. The cost of living hovers just at or slightly below the national average.
